Reclassification Process

The District will reclassify/redesignate a student from EL to Redesignated-Fluent English Proficient status according to the following criteria:

1. Overall CELDT score of Early Advanced or higher.

2. STAR testing score of 325 or higher in English Language Arts.

3. Teacher recommendation based on academic performance.

4. Parent input is solicited.

Reclassified/Redesignated students will not be tested again on the CELDT and are no longer considered ELs. This is a great accomplishment and students are celebrated with a letter and certificate of accomplishment.

Progress Monitoring

The District documents the academic progress of recently reclassified students for two years. If the student needs academic support during that time, academic interventions are provided and documented.
